I am reluctantly offering my Mk2 Escort for sale.

It was purchased as an unfinished project in 2007 with the intention of selling my MG ZR and completing the works and getting into the forest. Unfortunately the MG remains unsold despite being on all the major selling websites. I therefore have had to make the hard choice, unless a miracle occurs, of selling the Mk2 and sticking with the MG.

The car is a clubman spec MK2 escort with a good tidy shell, a few cosmetic blemishes, but no major rot or rust. It started life as a 1300 and was built for / by Justin Dale in the late 1980's as his starter car in the sport. It is believed not to have done any work for several years and has been dry stored whilst extensive works, mainly mechanical and ancillary had taken place. It is fitted with a new 2ltr Pinto (Burton) engine which is still to be fully run in. There are a set of twin webber carbs to fit once the engine is ready and these are being sold with the car. The transmission comprises a 4 speed quaiffe box and atlas axle with LSD and 4:6 crown wheel and pinion. There are disc brakes all round. The car has a new alloy tank, bias valve etc.

The car, not having been used for some time, does not have a current MOT, but this is not thought to be an issue given its condition. Additionally it is on a SORN.

To get the car on stage, we believe that the following basic work is required: Supply and fit new door bars Fit and plumb the brand new extinguisher system which is supplied within the auction price. Fit in place brand new Titon 4pt Harnesses, which will, if the price is right, be supplied within the package. (We will offer a choice of colour and the option to upgrade to 5pt or 6pt at additional cost). MOT and Tax, update MSA logbook and go...

The car is being advertised for sale. The car is currently located near Chertsey at a preparation company who, if required, are happy to quote on finishing works. Viewing can be arranged to serious parties by appointment, no boy racers or tyre kickers. Price on request. I am looking to recover the costs on the car and sensible offers will be considered.

Answers to various questions being raised...... (Verified by invoices as supplied with car). Seats, OMP RS Fibreglass, black AVO Leather Steering wheel 2 1/4" RS2000 competition exhaust system and manifold Brakes, M16 disc conversion to front and Mk3 escort to rear 4 Speed quaife box, believed to have no competition miles since purchase Burton Clubman Spec 2ltr Pinto engine, still being run in. Lightened, balanced, head, cam etc. Various parts / codes listed.... Cage is Safety Devices, Carbs are 2x 45 webber DCOE's Extinguishers are to FIA spec, plumbed is mechanical.
