1400 Championship ...
The 1.4 championship is a pure budget fun starter class based on specific models of the 1.4 205. The technical regulations and build manual have been designed to make the cars easy to build, easy to drive and cheap to maintain, not to mention the relative low cost to insure!! The cars are still very competitive Pat Flynn proving this in 2004 when he won an endurance rally OUTRIGHT!
There are also only 5 events within the year thus massively reducing the cost of competition in a full championship year.
1600 Championship ...
The 1600 championship offers the challenge's largest numbers of competitors who are all ferociously out to prove themselves in an affordable mixed surface championship.
Critically the 1600 competitors are split into 3 classes Beginners, Novice and Expert. This structure offers a real chance to gauge yourself against equal competition.
Whilst there is an abundance of used rally prepared Peugeot 205 GTi's available many people prefer to build new cars as part of there learning experience. Although most competitors in these classes are relative novices we do have several regulars who have been competing in 205s since the early 90's and whom provide a real benchmark for new comers to compete against.
RWD Championship ...
Launched for the 2005 season, the RWD championship is based on the BMW 325i [E30 model 1985-1991] with the beautiful 6 cyl engine and 171bhp, they will be all made equal at the rolling road, have gearing checked and then all sealed. Controlled for parts, they must use the same Mintex brakes, Bilstein Suspension, Safety Devices cage, Same BMW LSD plus the same tyres, again it's the driver who wins not the largest wallet!!
These cars go Sideways…………Simple as that! So with that in mind on each of the 6 rallies there will be a "Drifting Spectacular" on 2 nominated spectator corners. The most spectacular will receive bonus points towards an extra special "Drifting" prize.
Costs; The cars should cost under £3000 self build - you may use 2, or 4 dr models even Tourings!!
I can only summarize with the RWD challenge being the most cost effective way of going sideways!!!!!! Plus actually getting noticed for skill not wallet size. The 1st ever round produced a dead heat for 1st place, it could not be closer!! Join in the FUN!
