Northallerton-based performance specialist and rally car preparation company Motoscope had a successful weekend at the inaugural Speed show at the Great Yorkshire Show Ground in Harrogate (3-4 May).

Motoscope had a variety of competition cars on display that they have helped prepare and managed to bring back three trophies from the event.

They won the Best Engineering Trophy for their Mk1 Ford Escort with a Cosworth engine, Morton-on-Swale driver Charlie Taylor picked up the award for first rear-wheel drive car as he finished second overall in his historic-spec Mk2 Escort across the timed Sprint Rally Stage and York driver Ian Hildreth won his class in his BMW M5 and finished second to Taylor in his Mk1 Escort on the timed tests.

In addition, Motoscope ran their Puma 4x4 Evolution, a Mk2 Escort Duratec and a Porsche 996 Carrera 4 on the Sprint Rally Stage as well as having a trade stand at the show, which attracted a lot of interest from the public.

Richard Pocklington, managing director of Motoscope, said: “It was great for us to be involved in the first Speed show at Harrogate, it proved a successful weekend for Motoscope with all the trophies we won and the stand attracted interest.

“It gave the public a rare chance to get close to some of the interesting cars we work with and see them running. It was a great event to be held in North Yorkshire.”

Motoscope has been running for 37 years and not only prepares competition cars but enhance performance on road cars with Superchips available to help with power and economy.

They have an extensive workshop facility, which includes a rolling road and offers engine diagnostics, gearbox, axle and transmission rebuilds as well as general servicing. In addition they sell a wide-range of automotive parts and accessories from their retail shop on the Standard Way Industrial Estate in Northallerton.
