Rally Mini does wedding run
Forget the limousines and the horse-drawn carriages, when Natalie Loveridge got married 10 days ago there was only one choice of car to get her to the service, the 1340cc post-historic Mini Cooper S rally car owned by her father Paul.
The famous Mini, last seen lying sadly battered in a ditch on Epynt after a shunt at the hands of Natalie's brother Steve, was immaculately rebuilt into a new shell in time for Paul to take Natalie to get married to Steve Matthews. After the ceremony, bride and groom climbed into Mini to drive to the reception.
"The wedding dress had to suit the rally car," admitted the proud father. "We had eight Minis and Mini derivatives as wedding cars, including the rally cars of Eric Davies and Rob Baldwin," added Paul.
Having filled the role of best man for his sister's wedding, Steve Loveridge is now keen to get his hands on the rebuilt Mini once again for some rounds of the Dunlop/Gambia MSA British Historic Rally Championship in 2008.
To mark the occasion, the Mini carried the names of the key players in the wedding, with the names of the bride and groom taking pride of place in the rear window.
